Aditya Birla Nuvo is planning to set up off-gas-based captive power plant as part of its carbon black project in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
The 45 MW power plant is expected to come up over an area of 60 acre. The project will require 20,000 tonne fuel per annum, with a storage capacity of 1,000 tonne. Aditya Birla Nuvo will source the fuel from IOCL or BPCL bulk storage depots which are at a maximum distance of 100 km from the project site.
The captive power plant will be using off-gas, which is low in calorific value with minimum of 12-15 per cent carbon monoxide content, generated from carbon black production.
