Akzo Nobel, a paint maker, has commissioned its decorative paint plant in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
The project, with an annual capacity of 55 million ltr, has been built at a cost of Rs 140 crore. The greenfield unit has been built upon 9,000 m2 of land, with greenbelt area of 9,000 m2. The plant will provide the company a cost-effective access to key markets in the northern and central parts of the country. It will reinforce the strategy of the company to expand distribution of its Dulux brand.
The special sustainability features of the project include rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient pumping systems, while 20 per cent of roofing area allows natural daylight to flood in.
