Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has successfully commissioned another thermal unit in Chhattisgarh. The 600 MW thermal unit was commissioned at Jindal Power’s (JPL’s) 4x600 MW thermal power project situated at Tamnar, in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
This is the third unit of 600 MW that was commissioned by BHEL; the first two of 600 MW each were commissioned in March 2014. With the help of this unit, BHEL alone has added 3,500 MW capacity in Chhattisgarh.
Earlier, JPL’s four units of 250 MW each at OP Jindal Super Thermal Power Plant (STPP) at Raigarh were commissioned by BHEL.
As per the contract, BHEL needs to execute designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, erecting, testing and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers, along with associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides state-of-the-art controls & instrumentations (C&I) and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
