Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) plans to invest Rs 25,000 crore over the next five years into its city gas distribution (CGD) network.
Speaking at the India Energy Week in Goa on 29 January, 2026, Rahul Tandon, the Business Head for Gas at BPCL stated, “We have already spent about Rs 8,000 crores in all our 26 geographical areas.” He added that BPCL is committed to accelerating the expansion of its CGD network, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, saying, “We are very confident that we will be able to accelerate the entire activity [expansion of the network] much faster than any other CGD entity in the country.”
It was also revealed that BPCL has received bids from over ten international players for a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply contract. BPCL plans to source four LNG cargoes annually for the first three years, increasing to eight cargoes annually for the next seven years, to meet the needs of CGD entities, customers, and internal consumption.
