Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the first phase of the Patna Metro Rail Project’s 3.6-km elevated priority corridor on the Blue line on 06 October, 2025, connecting ISBT (Patliputra) to Bhoothnath station.
The project, initiated with a foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019, is estimated to cost RS 13,365 crore. The inaugural run, starting from Patliputra Bus Depot, was attended by Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. Passenger services will commence on October 7, operating from 8 am to 10 pm.
The initial stretch includes three stations: ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhoothnath. Trains run every 20 minutes, carrying up to 900 passengers across three coaches designed with Madhubani art motifs, celebrating Bihar’s cultural heritage. This development marks a significant step towards modern urban transport in Patna, promising improved connectivity and commuter convenience.
