Borg India, a renewable energy company, is planning to invest around $45 million (approx Rs 280 crore) in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects and rural electrification in India in the next six months.
With this in mind, the company will set up the solar EPC projects in Rajasthan, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh. Borg India will not own the plant; it will bring in finance and offer turnkey solutions. The company will scout around for blue-chip companies that have a power purchase agreement to set up these plants with a capacity of more than one MW.
Upto 70 per cent of the project cost will be financed with competitive interest rates through Borg capital.
Besides, the company is also planning to open a 'Power Play' outlet in Surat shortly. At present, there are 25 such centres, mostly in the south region in the country. It is also looking forward to setting up an R&D centre, possibly in Delhi, with an emphasis on nanotechnology for solar.
