The Central Government approved two stretches of National Highways in Rajasthan under Phase I of National Highway Interconnectivity Improvement Projects (NHIIP).
The road projects involve investment to the tune of Rs 713 crore with assistance from the World Bank. Centre has approved a proposal for rehabilitation and upgrading of two stretches viz. Lalsot-Karauli and Pratapgarh-Padi.
The improvement of Lalsot-Karauli road includes two laning from 0 km to 85 km of NH-11B in Dausa district of state at a cost of around Rs 310 crore. Whereas the upgradation of Pratapgarh to Padi involves two-lane/two-lane with paved shoulders of road from km 80.00 to km 180.00 km of NH-113 in Udaipur district under Phase-I of NHIIP at a cost of around Rs 403 crore.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is the promoter of both the projects but it will be implemented by PWD Rajasthan as executing agency of the ministry. The projects are targeted to be completed by March 2017. The stretches will be maintained by the same contractors on completion of construction for a further period of five years.
