The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) is planning to open an industrial park in two places near the city of Kerala.

The project will be developed over 500 acre in two locations near the city, in six months. The association has identified project sites -- Vagarayampalayam and Kallapalayam -- in the city. The park is to become a 'green industrial belt' where energy saving and environment-friendly measures are to be taken. All buildings and energy sources in the park will be environment-friendly.

The project will entail an investment of Rs 225 crore. Codissia will allot separate space for engineering units like foundries and other mechanical units. This will ensure pollution is minimal from the plants. Similarly, a separate area will be allotted for IT firms in the park.

The park is to have all the required facilities for units like parking spaces and roadways for transporting materials.
