The Colaba Seepz Metro-III’s bidding process has received approval from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) received consent for the Request for Qualification (RfQ) stage of the project on 4 November, 2014.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited pre-qualification bids for the project in September 2013, in which nine firms were qualified. Requests for Proposals (RfPs) will be invited from those found eligible by 13 November. The MMRC will give at least three months to submit the proposal.
JICA is funding nearly 56 per cent of the Rs 24,500 crore project cost. The Maharashtra government has decided to undertake the work on a cash contract and not public-private partnership like it was done for the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro-I.
The foundation stone for the Colaba Seepz Metro-III was laid on 26 August, 2014.
