Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) has inked an MoU with the Ministry of Railways to lay down targets for various important activities of the dedicated freight corridor project, for FY15.
An MoU will ensure timely release of adequate funds for execution of the project, land acquisition, and continuance of full assistance by the Ministry of Railways, on tenure basis.
DFCCIL, an SPV, is executing the eastern and western freight corridor projects.
The 1,835 km eastern freight corridor project starts from Ludhiana in Punjab and will pass through Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and will terminate at Dankuni in West Bengal. The project entails an investment of Rs 19,486.20 crore.
The 1,499 km long western dedicated freight corridor will traverse from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai, passing through Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. DFCCIL will invest Rs 11,446 crore in the project.
