Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has commenced tunnelling work at Palam area, on the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden (Noida) corridor, as part of its Phase III metro rail project.
The tunnel, which starts from the Palam metro station, will emerge at the end of the Dwarka flyover, towards Dhaula Kuan, after covering a distance of 1.51 km, from where the alignment will become elevated.
The tunnelling work is expected to be completed by December 2014.
Delhi Metro Rail Phase-III project comprises six corridors in total length of 69.57 km to metro network, with 31.11 km of elevated section and 38.46 km of underground section, with extensions to existing lines. The project, estimated to cost Rs 35,000 crore, is expected to be completed by 2016.
