Five companies have evinced interest in the development of the Sewri-Worli elevated corridor.
The companies responding to the bids invited by developer, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), are Gammon India, Hindustan Construction Company, Larsen & Toubro, National Construction Company, and Simplex Infrastructure. In April 2013, the company had invited bids for the project.
The 4.25 km long Sewri-Worli elevated corridor is estimated to cost Rs 491 crore. The developer will require around two weeks to evaluate the proposals after which it will open the financial tenders. Evaluation of the financial bids will take another two weeks.
Construction work on the project is expected to commence early next year and will take nearly four years to complete. The project will require rehabilitation of around 800 families living along the alignment of the road. The corridor will begin at Narayan Hardikar Marg in Worli and end near Sewri railway station.
