Ford India, which is on track with commissioning its Sanand plant, is planning to commission the unit by December 2014.
The company is setting up a passenger cars unit with a capacity of 2.4 lakh units per year at Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation Estate (GIDC), Sanand, in Ahmedabad district. The project, estimated to cost Rs 5,000 crore, is spread over 460 acre.
Meanwhile, the company is planning to set up a new outlet at Sanand itself.
Further, Ford India also plans to increase its sales and service outlets from the existing 274 to around 500 outlets within ten years.
