Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, has laid the foundation stone for the Kishangarh airport in Ajmer district, Rajasthan.
The new airport is around 120 km from Jaipur. Its estimated cost will be around Rs 160 crore. It will cater to pilgrims who visit the Ajmer Dargah and Pushkar Lake. The airport is slated to be operational in three years.
Central Government plans to develop over 100 small airports in various parts of the country. The proposed Kishangarh airport is the first project under this plan.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone for the underground construction of the Jaipur Metro's Phase-1B soon.
