GE India is planning to operationalise its manufacturing facility at MIDC Industrial Park, Phase-II, at Chakan in Pune, Maharashtra by June 2014.
The project, being built with an investment of $200 million (approx Rs 1,265.8 crore) will be making a host of different things ranging from aviation components to turbo machinery components to measurement and controls and wind turbines. The products manufactured in the facility will also be exported to other countries. Initially, the facility will focus on energy products and technologies driven by the industry needs for power generation, transmission and distribution as well as measurement and control.
Last year, the government of Maharashtra and GE signed an MoU to develop the project.
