Hindustan Electricity Generation Company is planning to set up a combined cycle gas-based power plant in Pune, Maharashtra.
The company had recently conducted a public hearing for the proposed 355 MW project.
The proposed project will utilise natural gas for generation of power. It will require 2,312.6 million British thermal units per hour of natural gas. Also, the company will use imported and domestic gas for the project and has executed an agreement with Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), for the supply of gas.
However, the project had already received environmental clearance in February 2012 post recommendations of the State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC).
SEAC had directed the company to resubmit the updated application as per the order of the Supreme Court of India. In this regard, Hindustan Electricity Generation Company submitted an updated application along with PFR (project feasibility report) and proposed ToR to SEAC, which was subsequently approved by the committee.
