The government of Goa has issued notification for e-auction of iron ore currently stacked at jetties, stockyards and beneficiation plants across the state’s mining belt.
The e-auctioning is scheduled to be started in February 2014. The state government has also received an approval from the Supreme Court for the same.
The Supreme Court while hearing a petition in the Goa illegal mining case had granted approval for online auctioning of the ore, and money collected from the process will be deposited in a separate account till the case is disposed off.
The state government has invited applications from prospective bidders to participate in e-auctioning of extracted ore in Goa. Approximately 15 million tonne of ore is lying unused at jetties, stockyards and beneficiation plants in the state.
According to the notification, companies participating in the auctioning process should get themselves registered with the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM).
