The government of Gujarat has given in-principle approval for providing financial assistance of Rs 65.99 crore for the five textile parks, under the Gujarat Textile Policy of 2012.
Of the five, three are textile parks and two are spinning parks. Two of the five parks will come up in Surat, two in Bharuch and one in Kheda. These parks are estimated to cost Rs 338 crore. A minimum of two lakh spindles will come up in each of the two approved spinning parks.
Financial assistance has been given for development of a common infrastructure under the textile policy.
For the spinning parks, the state government will provide assistance of Rs 30 crore or upto 50 per cent of the project cost, whichever is lower. For the textile parks, assistance will be provided at the lower end of Rs 10 crore or 50 per cent of the cost.
Meanwhile, the state government has also given its nod for setting up of apparel training centres in six training centres, to provide a steady supply of trained manpower for the apparel industry.
