The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), is planning to set up an Intra-city rail network in the Dholera Special Investment Region, Gujarat.
The project is expected to cost $500 million (approx Rs 3,271 crore). The corporation will shortly appoint a consultant to study the technical and financial feasibility of the transport project.
Dholera Special Investment Region, being developed by DMICDC over 900 sq km, is a new greenfield industrial hub in Gujarat. The project is being partly funded by the Japanese Government. The developer has already acquired about 100 sq km under Phase-I of the project and will commence construction work for the city by December 2013. The land has been acquired using the pooling method, which ensures that the original owner gets back compensatory land close to the project site.
