Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) is planning to set up the refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachparda at Barmer district of Rajasthan.
The proposed refinery project will come up on around 3,700 acres of land with an investment of Rs 37,229 crore. Earlier, HPCL had planned to set up the plant at Lilala, but due to certain land related issues, the company is considering a new project site at Pachparda, which is more than 40 km away from Lilala.
HPCL, through joint venture between its subsidiary MRPL and Cairn Energy, UK, plans to set up a nine million tpa petroleum refinery and petrochemical complex in Rajasthan.
In April 2013, HPCL signed the MoU with Rajasthan government for setting up the project. According to the MoU, the state government will have 26 per cent stake in the project.
