The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) is expecting to complete work on the extension of the harbour line from Andheri to Goregaon, by June 2015.
The Corporation is expecting to complete the work by next year, as it has cleared the major hurdle of acquiring 375 sq mtr of private land between Andheri and Jogeshwari for laying of tracks, which was delaying work on the project.
The 375 sq mtr of land has been successfully acquired by the Maharashtra government, and compensation for the same will be handed over by the state government on 21 June, 2014. Once the compensation is given, the process of handing over of the land will be completed.
The Rs 147.5 crore extension of the harbour line till Goregaon, when completed, will allow the railways to run direct trains upto the station from CST and Navi Mumbai.
