Hindustan Power projects, formerly known as Moser Baer, will invest Rs 17,000 crore in the energy sector, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, by 2020.
The investment will account for half of the Hindustan Power projects’ investment plan across the country by 2020.
The company has already set up a 1,200 MW thermal power plant at an expense of Rs 8,000 crore in Anuppur district. In addition, it has also commissioned a 30 MW solar power plant in Neemuch district.
Madhya Pradesh has 8.5 percent of the nation’s coal reserves and also has high degree of solar irradiance. Also, the state is in the central part of country and is well connected and does not have logistical issues.
