Honda Cars India is planning to set up a plant in Gujarat, for which the company is scouting for land.
The company is searching for a 250 acre land parcel and has already visited a site in Vithalapur, about 110 km from Ahmedabad, between Sanand and Mehsana towns.
In the same region, Honda Cars has already acquired about 200 acre of private land at Rs 15-20 lakh an acre. The company is likely to ink a state support agreement with the state government, which has been delayed due to the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Recently, the company started manufacturing passenger cars at its Tapukara plant in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The facility, spread over 450 acre, has been set up with an investment of Rs 3,526 crore. It has an installed capacity of 1,20,000 cars per year.
