The Government of India is likely to sign an agreement with Russia for setting up Unit-III and IV of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.
The units are being developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India with an investment of Rs 32,000 crore. Each unit of the project will have 1,000 MW capacity.
Besides, Unit-II of the project is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2014. In July 2013, the project attained first criticality of Unit-I. The company is likely to commence commercial operation of Unit-I by November 2013.
