IndianOil Total (ITPL) has inaugurated a greenfield bitumen derivatives plant in Gummidipoondi, near Chennai, to meet the growing demand for high-performance road construction materials.
The plant will produce various forms of bitumen, including polymer modified bitumen (PMB), crumb rubber modified bitumen (CRMB), and natural rubber modified bitumen (NRMB). This facility will cater to national highways, state roads, industrial corridors, and urban infrastructure projects across Southern India. The plant is equipped with advanced automation and adheres to global safety standards.
"The facility will play a key role in supplying materials for NHAI national highways, state highway programs, major city infrastructure works, industrial corridors, and other critical development projects in the region," said ITPL Chairman Anuj Jain. This venture also underscores TotalEnergies' long-term commitment to India, enhancing its local R&D and technological capabilities.
