Isuzu Motors, Japanese auto maker, is planning to invest Rs 3,000 crore in setting up a new facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh.
The project will produce light commercial vehicles, and sports utility vehicles, and is expected to be operational by 2016.
Meanwhile, the company has rolled out its first assembled sports utility vehicle 'MU-7' from Thiruvallur plant near Chennai. It has signed a 'contract manufacturing' agreement with Hindustan Motors, in June 2013, for assembling 'MU-7', at the latter's manufacturing facility in Thiruvallur.
Further, Isuzu is planning to open eight outlets in South India by the end of FY14, with plans to increase it to 60 by 2016.
