The government of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) has inked an MoU with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), for development of solar plants in the state.
The MoU has been signed for implementation of 7,500 MW solar capacity. Of the proposed total capacity, 5,000 MW will be implemented in Ladakh, and 2,500 MW will be in Kargil. Ladakh possesses the potential of 30,000 MW of solar energy. Signing of the MoU will be a vanguard step towards harnessing this potential.
Besides, the MNRE has initiated various projects in Jammu & Kashmir to help the state to generate power from available non-conventional resources.
