Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) is likely to commission its coal-to-gas (CTG) project in Angul district of Orissa, in May 2014.
The project is part of the company's integrated steel plant at Kerjenga in Angul. The CTG plant will produce 2,25,000 Nm3 / hr synthetic gas. Sponge iron (DRI) at the project site will be produced by utilising the CTG technology.
The steel plant of the company, with six million tpa capacity, is being developed in various phases. The project is estimated to cost Rs 30,000 crore. Completion of the CTG plant will mark the conclusion of Phase-I of the steel plant, which entails a capacity of 2.5 million tpa.
The integrated steel plant also involves an 810 MW (6 x 135 MW) captive power plant.
