The company has already acquired land for this project and the region is limestone-rich. The supplies from Gulbarga to cement markets in Maharashtra and Gujarat will be easier.

Presently, the company has a total capacity to produce 6.4 million tonne of cement with plants in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

JSW has a cement plant in Kurnool, in Andhra Pradesh, with a capacity of 4.8 million tonne. In Bellary, Karnataka, it has a small plant with 0.6 million tonne capacity. With the takeover of the one million capacity plant in Dolvi, Maharashtra, the group’s cumulative capacity is 6.4 million tonne.

Many new projects will come up in the near future in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. JSW cements expects an increase in demand to drive up capacity utilisation to 75 per cent by the end of the current fiscal year from the present 55-60 per cent.
