Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) is planning to commission its coal-to-gas project at Angul in Orissa by December 2013.
The coal-to-gas project is part of the company's integrated steel plant at Kerjenga near Angul. The plant will produce 2,25,000 Nm3 / hr synthetic gas. JSPL has signed an agreement with Lurgi Technology Company, South Africa, to provide the technology for coal gasification.
The steel project of the company, with a total six million tpa capacity, is estimated to cost Rs 30,000 crore. The plant, being developed in various phases, also includes a 6 x 135 MW power plant. Phase-I of the steel plant comprises 2.5 million tpa capacity.
Further, the company has also proposed to expand its steel-making capacity at the facility to 12.5 million tpa and generate 2,600 MW of power in phases.
