The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has given approval for two more National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs) in Karnataka.
The second and third NIMZs will be set up at Bidar and Gulbarga. Earlier, the ministry had sanctioned the first such zone in Tumkur, for which land acquisition is under progress.
Each of the NIMZs will require at least 5,000 acre of land and the government of India will provide assistance for creating the infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the ministry has also given approval to provide the status of NIMZ to the proposed Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) near the international airport in Bangalore. With this, all the incentives being provided to units in the NIMZs will be extended to ITIR.
