Kochi Metro Rail has commenced piling works for the Kochi metro rail project in Kerala.
The company has begun piling work on the MG road stretch between Madhava Pharmacy Junction near Chennai Silks, and Padma Junction. It has appointed Soma Constructions for the work on the stretch.
Soma Constructions has received the sketch for the completion of 28 piles. However, as per the plan prepared by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation - the consultant for the project - 32 piles will be constructed. Once work on the stretch gets into full gear, barricades will be put up between Padma Junction and Abad Plaza. Work on the first stretch on MG road is expected to be completed within 35 days.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 5,200 crore, involves implementation of the metro rail project at Kochi, in Ernakulam district of Kerala.
