Mineral Exploration and Consultancy (MECL) and NLC India (NLCIL) reaffirmed their long-standing partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 07 April, 2025 to intensify collaborative efforts in lignite exploration and geological work across India.
This strategic renewal aims to bolster the nation’s energy security and catalyse economic development through the sustainable utilisation of lignite resources. The formal signing was held in the presence of dignitaries and senior officials from both organisations. The collaboration between two public sector undertakings (PSUs) is rooted in a shared vision to unlock India’s lignite potential through detailed geological assessment and scientific exploration.
The MoU aligns with national objectives under the broader framework of energy self-reliance and mineral resource optimisation. It also supports the Centre’s focus on sustainable mining practices and infrastructure-driven growth.
