Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning to set up a 'waste to energy' project at Taloja.
MMRDA intends to generate 30 MW of power from its 'waste to energy' project. The unit is estimated to cost Rs 300 crore. The authority will shortly award a contract for the proposed plant to a consortium of Ramky Enviro Engineers, and Chinese firm Chongqing Sanfeng Environmental Industry Group. The PPP venture intends to process nearly 2,500 tonne of municipal waste to generate electricity.
The plant will collect waste from six municipal corporations including Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Badlapur, Bhiwandi in the region.
