The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on 03 September, 2025 approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 75,000 crore across Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.
A key highlight is Mumbai Metro Line-11, a Rs 24,000 crore underground corridor linking Wadala Depot to the Gateway of India. The 17.51-km line will extend Line-4 and run 16.83 km underground with one at-grade section. Fourteen stations are planned, including Byculla, CSMT, Bhendi Bazaar, Horniman Circle and Gateway of India. The Detailed Project Report by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation estimates trains will run at 80 kmph, with 2.5- minute peak headway, carrying 5.8 lakh daily riders in 2031, rising above 10 lakhs by 2055.
The project requires 104 acres of land, 92.5 acres being government-owned. A 39-acre car shed will be built on BEST land at Anik–Pratiksha Nagar. Other approvals cover suburban rail upgrades, new Thane Metro, Pune–Nagpur Metro expansions, Nagpur Outer Ring Road, Thane–Navi Mumbai Airport link, a new IBFC in “New Nagpur,” and a Bombay High Court complex at Bandra (East).
