The government of Maharashtra has received 1,331 projects under the new textile policy, to the tune of Rs 12,000 crore.
A few of these projects are already in the pipeline. For ten textile parks, Rs 51 crore capital subsidy has been given and Rs 16 crore interest subsidy has been sanctioned for 50 projects.
The state government has delinked Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) from the policy. With this, investors will not have to wait for the Unique Identification (UID) number. The state can receive direct proposals prior to getting the UID number, which is mandatory under TUFS.
With the delinking of TUFS from the policy, the state government expects to meet the target of Rs 40,000 crore investment sooner than the five year time frame.
