The Government of Malaysia has evinced interest in providing a loan of Rs 9,500 crore for the proposed Agra-Lucknow Expressway project in Uttar Pradesh.
The expressway project being developed by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority is estimated to cost Rs 9,550 crore. The project envisages development of six-lane Agra-Lucknow access controlled expressway in length of 269.86 km on PPP basis.
It will connect Agra with Lucknow via Firozabad, Etawah, Mainpuri, Kannauj and Hardoi. Initially, the expressway will pass through city outskirts and the city centres that will be connected through by-pass roads. The project is expected to be completed by December 2016.
