Manali Petrochemicals (MPL) has received the consent to operate (CTO) from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) for its expanded Propylene Glycol (PG) facility at Plant II in Manali, Chennai.
This regulatory approval is valid up to 31 March, 2030, allowing the company to commence manufacturing operations as specified in the CTO. The expansion increases MPL’s PG capacity from 22,000 tonne per annum (TPA) to 72,000 TPA, adding 50,000 TPA of additional capacity.
The project is part of MPL’s broader vision to enhance domestic production under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. PG is a critical input used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, and industrial sectors. With this expansion, MPL aims to reduce India's dependence on imports while meeting the rising domestic demand.
The facility is equipped with advanced technology and adheres to environmental compliance standards laid out by the TNPCB. With the CTO now in hand, MPL is set to begin commercial operations at the expanded facility immediately.
