The three-day Maritime India Summit, 2016 has attracted investment proposals worth Rs 83,000 crore. These proposals have been received in the shipping, ports and allied sectors.
According to the Union Shipping Minister, Nitin Gadkari around 141 agreements entailing investment of Rs 82,900 crore was signed on the first two days of the summit.
During the summit, the Defence ministry entered into a pact with Shipping ministry for executing projects worth Rs 75,000 crore. Bulk of the defence orders are expected to be shared with private sector shipyards.
