Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is likely to begin service on Mumbai Metro Line-I, by the end of December this year.
On 6 December 2013, Mumbai Metro One (MMOPL) carried out trial runs using six metro trains at a time on the Mumbai Metro Line-I (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Corridor).
Of the six trials, the first took place from Ghatkopar to Versova, while other trials followed within a span of thirty minutes.
While the MMOPL carried out its first trial on the metro corridor on 9 November, by 18 November, the project had been included under the Central Metro Railways Act, allowing the body to apply for safety certification, which is mandatory for the metro, before opening it to the public.
Currently, the railway board is carrying out its study. The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) will then begin its trials, which are expected to happen by this month.
