Mumbai Port Trust has ended up with
just two bids for the Rs.1,200 crore offshore container terminal project.
The port had shortlisted 11 players for the purpose out of which only two
bidders -- consortia led by Larsen & Toubro and Gammon India -- submitted
bids.
There was a two year delay in the
bidding process as deadline was deferred at least 15 times over the security clearance
delay for L&T's former partner, Hutchison Ports
Holding (HPH). L&T later roped in Philippines port major International
Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI).
While L&T is bidding along with
ICTSI, Gammon India has tied up with Italian company Dragados SPL and Gammon
Infrastructure Project.
