National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) has set up a construction and destruction waste recycling unit at East Kidwai Nagar, in South Delhi.
This facility has a capacity to recycle 150 tonne of construction and destruction waste per day. On 3 May 2014, the company launched this facility which will produce 30,000 bricks / kerb stone, which will be used in the redevelopment of government housing.
The East Kidwai Nagar redevelopment scheme involves construction of approximately 4,747 type-II to type-VII houses in place of the existing 2,444. The total area of the project is 86 acre.
Apart from this, NBCC is planning to develop townships in Alwar, Gurgaon, and Khekra (near Delhi-Saharanpur Highway) within three months.
The project will offer 500-1,000 affordable housing units.
NBCC has land in Patna, Jaipur, Alwar, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Lucknow, and the sale of the land parcel is expected to commence after November.
