North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), is planning to set up solar and wind power projects for the development of Renewable Energy in the country.
The company will set up the projects within the premises of the corporation's ongoing and O & M thermal and hydro projects. As part of the proposed plan, the power utility had already invited proposals from agencies for formation of a JV with NEEPCO in Public Private Partnership (PPP) to implement solar and wind power projects of at least 10 MW capacity.
The preparation of DPR is underway for assessment of wind potential in the vicinity of the Kopli Hydro Electric project in Assam and is to be submitted by November 2014. Also, the process for carrying out detailed investigation works for the project is in progress.
As far as solar energy is concerned, the evaluation of bids is underway for 5 MW grid interactive solar power plants which are to be established within the premises of the under construction 100 MW Tripura gas-based power project. The proposed project is likely to be completed by September 2014.
Also, NEEPCO has finalised the feasibility report of 2 MW grid interactive solar power plant at the 291 MW Assam gas-based power project, and a solar plant within its own premises in Nowgaon district of Assam.
