NTPC has acquired possession of 1,205 acre of private land for 1,600 MW super thermal power plant at Darlipalli, Sundergarh district of Orissa.
NTPC requires around 1,652 acre of land to implement the proposed power station, of which around 1,275 acre of private land is required for the main section of the project. The state government had already issued possession certificate for 1,205.79 acre of private land.
Of the rest 447 acre land, alienation proposals for 339.49 acre of government land are under process. Notification under Section 4 (1) of Land Acquisition Act has been issued for 32.36 acre of private land required for building a rehabilitation and resettlement colony.
Moreover, administrative approval has been issued for acquisition of 55 acre private land for the Merry Go Round (MGR) system.
NTPC is planning to set up Darlipalli super thermal power project with an investment of Rs 12,850.07 crore. The required water will be sourced from the Hirakud reservoir in the Mahanadi river. The company has secured coal linkage in the form of Dulanga block with a capacity to produce 7 million tpa under command area of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), and Pakri Barwadih block in Bihar's Hazaribagh district with 12.5 million tpa capacity.
