NTPC has successfully commenced the commercial operation of the first 800 MW unit at its Patratu Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Jharkhand.

This milestone, achieved on 05 November, 2025, adds significantly to NTPC's generation capacity, bringing the group’s total installed capacity to 84,849 MW. The Patratu STPP, located in Ramgarh district, is managed by Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (PVUNL), a joint venture between NTPC (74 percent) and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL) (26 percent). The project’s Phase-I includes three super-critical units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, and is expected to enhance regional power supply.

Notably, 85 percent of the power generated will be allocated to Jharkhand, supporting local infrastructure development. This initiative underscores NTPC’s commitment to bolstering India's energy capacity with cutting-edge, environmentally efficient power plants.
