NTPC has sought 745.15 acre of land for developing infrastructure at its super thermal power project at Gajamara in Dhenkanal district of Orissa.
The company has sought land for constructing ash dyke, reservoir area, ash pipe line corridor and railway line corridor for its 1,600 MW thermal power plant. Of the 745.15 acre, the company requires 437.12 acre for ash dyke and 110.61 acre for the reservoir area.
Similarly, it has put the requirement for its ash pipe line corridor and railway line corridor at 56.3 acre and 138.12 acre, respectively.
The Investment Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha (Ipicol) has assessed the land requirement at 538.34 acre against NTPC's demand of 745.15 acre.
Ipicol has recommended the energy department to sanction administrative approval to NTPC for the land.
NTPC requires a total of 1,013 acre land for its power plant that is to be set up in two units with 800 MW capacity. Of the total, 795.85 acre is privately owned. Notification under Section 4 (1) of the Land Acquisition Act has already been issued for acquisition of private land for the Gajamara project.
Further, the company will set up a power engineering institute at Dhenkanal that is linked to its Gajamara plant.
