The Japan Government is keen to acquire stake in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project.
The Japan Government has expressed its desire to acquire 26 per cent equity stake in DMIC. In this regards, the DIPP has forwarded a note to the Union Ministry of Finance. Japan has expressed its interest after the Union Government decided to replace Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) and Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) in the DMIC Development Corporation (DMICDC), the entity implementing the project. DMICDC is a SPV for implementing the DMIC project for setting up industrial enclaves along the Delhi-Mumbai rail corridor, spanning Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
