The Karnataka Government's plan to set up a 1,320 MW super critical thermal
power project at Ferozabad village, about 25 km from Gulbarga, has hit a
roadblock.
The farmers of Ferozabad, Nadi Sinnoor and Honna Kiranagi villages have
protested against acquisition of their lands for setting up the project. The
state government proposes to acquire 1,516 acre in these villages.
The project entailing a cost of Rs 7,000 crore is to be set up in PPP mode.
According to sources, 13 companies including Reliance, L&T, CMR Group, Lanco and
others have expressed their interest in establishing the thermal plant.
