Hindalco Industries is likely to make high-margin can sheets for beverages at
its upcoming facility in Hirakud, Orissa, through a plant relocated from Novelis'
UK unit.
The company had acquired Novelis in 2007. For the plant at Hirakud which is
to be commissioned in October 2011, Hindalco is shifting key equipment from
Novelis' plant at Rogerstone, UK.
The company will mainly try to export the product and supply it to Canpack, a
Poland based producer of cans, which has a 650-million can factory at Aurangabad
in Maharashtra.
