Taiwanese companies are holding discussion with the Karnataka Government to set up electronics manufacturing unit in the state.
About 25 Taiwanese companies are expected to finalise details about setting up a cluster of units in the state. Also, a Taiwanese delegation with the state government is planning to set up a township that will include everything from manufacturing to training. However, names of the companies are not yet disclosed.
In August 2012, the Central Government had announced that it will provide financial support of up to Rs 50 crore for setting up a cluster that will take care of all needs for development of specific kind of electronics manufacturing. As per this scheme, the government will provide aid to SPVs for setting up such clusters.
